Sisters, Katie Rose and Kelly Standen established
Appleseeds Day School, Inc. in 1999. Katie, then a recent Boston College
graduate working with young children, dreamed of opening a center of
her own one day. Kelly, then a CPA and a new mom, discovered there was
a desperate need for a first-rate, comprehensive child-care program
for the growing number of parents in the Exeter area.
As a result of the combination of Katie’s
dream and Kelly’s need, the two sisters began researching the
nuts-and-bolts of providing high standards of child care and education.
Two years later, construction began, and on March 18, 2002, Appleseeds
Day School (Appleseeds) opened to the public, as a privately owned childcare
center.
Today, Appleseeds has become a high quality
child care center for over 120 families in the area. The school is over
7200 square feet, air conditioned, with a state of the art sprinkler
and fire safety system and a large age-appropriate divided outdoor playground.
Each classroom has two teachers with at least one if not both teachers
holding a degree in early childhood education. The school is on two
acres and is nestled in protected wetlands so the children can experience
a natural setting while providing the parents with easy access to Routes
101 and 95 for commuting.
Our program celebrates that children learn
best through hands on experiences while playing in the early childhood
setting. “I love what we do,” said Kelly. “We’re
making babies smile and giving parents a safe, positive center for their
children. What could be better than that?”
